Frequently Asked Questions
Call Us (385) 462-8514I have anxiety about going to the dentist. What can I do?
Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Many people feel anxious about visiting the dentist. At Velux Dental, we encourage open communication so we can offer you a variety of pain-relief options during your treatment to help ease your fears.
Why is oral hygiene important?
Oral hygiene is the key to protecting your teeth for life, and it can also help reduce the risk of various health issues. Poor dental health has been linked to conditions like diabetes and heart disease. By brushing twice a day, flossing once, and visiting your dentist regularly, you can maintain excellent oral hygiene at home and keep both your teeth and overall health in top shape.
How often should I visit the dentist?
You should visit your dentist every six months for a routine checkup and cleaning. In cases with periodontal disease, we recommend visiting us every three months.
What causes sensitive teeth?
There are many causes of sensitive teeth, including tooth decay, exposed roots, infection, and gum disease. Some causes are benign, while others may require attention. The only way to know for sure is through an oral exam at Velux Dental in Syracuse, UT.
What should I do before seeing an emergency dentist?
Will the emergency dentist be able to fix my problem immediately?
Depending on the severity, Dr. Allred may perform immediate pain relief, temporary repairs, or schedule follow-up appointments for full treatment.
Do I need to have dental insurance for emergency care?
Insurance can help cover costs, but our emergency dentist will see patients regardless of insurance status.
What do I do if there is an object caught in between my teeth?
If you have food or a small object between your teeth, first try to gently remove it with dental floss. Do NOT try to use sharp objects to remove it, since it may cause more damage. If you can’t remove it, make a dental appointment ASAP.
When should I go to the emergency room instead of an emeregency dentist?
If you experience severe facial trauma (such as a fractured jaw), uncontrolled bleeding, difficulty breathing, severe swelling with infection, a dental infection accompanied by a high fever, or loss of consciousness due to dental trauma. These could indicate a life-threatening medical emergency that requires immediate hospital care.
